Mensch Meier, by German playwright Franz Xaver Kroetz, is the first production I have seen at the Cleveland Play House that seems to me to be unquestionably ground breaking. Its a major work directed by a major young director, (George Ferencz, who happens to be from Cleveland), and provides the same heart-stopping glimpse of new horizons, new perceptions that one might expect from the best of nationally recognized companies like the Guthrie or the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge
